Jamaat leader arrested in Sylhet

SYLHET, Dec 24 (UNB): Police arrested a local leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami from Kamargaon area of Chhatak Upazila on Monday in several cases filed for subversive activities during the political agitation programme, including blockade.
The arrestee was identified as Maulana Mansur Ahmed, 35, assistant secretary of Chhatak Upazila unit Jammat, and a teacher of a local high school.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chhatak Police Station Shahjalal Munshi said a team of police arrested Mansur from the area around 5:30pm.
There were several cases, including those for attack on police and arsons, against the leader, the OC added.
