SATKHIRA, Nov 11 (UNB): A married man of 40 caught in compromising position with a woman has been fined Tk 50,000 in arbitration by the elders.
According to the arbitrators, Advocate Azizur Rahman, also a Jamaat leader, came out of home early on the plea of saying Fazr prayer Friday. Instead of going to the mosque he sneaked into the nearby house of amenable Ayesha (not the real name), a lovelorn widow of early 30s.
A man of adjoining house saw them in compromising position. He quietly called others and held them. The neighbours said Aziz and Ayesha were often seen in joyous bouts.
Elderly lawyers rushed to the spot and dissuaded the angry people from taking legal course. They sat in arbitration and fined Aziz Tk 50,000 in atonement.
Aziz, general secretary of district Sramik Kalyan Federation, the labour wing of Jamaat, paid Tk 30,000 of the fine by cheque on Islami Bank Saturday and went into hiding.
Wounded and ashamed by the scandal of the husband, his faithful wife went half-mad. She ransacked the house and attempted to commit suicide, neighbours said.
Meanwhile, president of the Sramik Kalyan Federation Sunday issued notice on Advocate Azizur Rahman to show cause as to why he should not be expelled from the party for anti-social activity.
Muhaddees Abdul Khaleque, Ameer of district Jamaat, said he has heard about the incident. "Aziz is not available now. Party action will be taken against him."
