Jamaat leader held with 5 petrol bombs

Police arrested former aamir of Jessore district unit of Jamaat-e-Islami and also the party’s central committee leader Maulana Azizur Rahman with five petrol bombs in neighbpuring Jhenidah district on Tuesday. Police also nabbed Jhenidah municipality ward unit Jamaat aamir Moazzem Hossain almost at the same time. Police said, a group of Jamaat leaders and activists gathered in Jhenidah for a secrete meeting to carry out subversive activities. Being tipped off, a police team conducted a drive and arrester the two Jamaat leaders. Besides, law enforcers seized five petrol bombs from their possession. Police further said that Azizur Rahman was accused in several arms and explosion cases filed with Jessore and Sharsha police stations. Jhenidah Sadar police station’s officer-in-charge (OC) Hasan Hafizur Rahman confirmed the arrests and seizure of the explosives, according to a news agency.
