Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh Ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami has said his party leaders have been asked to carry out relief activities in the country's 15 cyclone-hit districts.
"Jamaat district Ameer have been asked to collect cash and relief materials from across the country and hand over those to the party's central relief fund," he said while receiving cash for the cyclone victims in the city Saturday, reports UNB.
Leaders of Kushtia, Jhenaidah and Sylhet (South) districts handed over the cash to Nizami.
The Jamaat chief said it is the moral responsibility of all to stand beside the cyclone and tidal surge-affected people of the country's south and southwestern regions.
Nizami, also a former minister, called upon all, irrespective of party affiliation, to come forward in aid of the affected people.
