Jamaat stage protests

The Jamaat-e-Islami staged protests across the country on Sunday demanding release of its top leaders convicted or under trial on war crimes charges. However, its procession in Dhaka was dispersed by the police. Jamaat’s acting Secretary General Shafiqur Rahman, in a statement on Saturday, announced the nationwide demonstration also in protests against what it alleged the government’s ‘conspiring to eliminate’ its top brass, according to a news agency.
