MEHERPUR, Dec 14 (UNB): The district Jamaat and its sympathisers will boycott the projection meeting of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia at the Govt High School ground in Meherpur-1 constituency scheduled for late Monday evening.
The sharp difference among the two allied parties arose as Haji Samiruddin of Jamaat and Masud Arun of BNP are vying for election from the constituency. Both of them are in vigorous election campaign.
"I was not informed by my party nor the 4-party alliance about today' s projection meeting of Khaleda Zia," Samiruddin, also district Ameer of Jamaat, told the news agency.
The 4-party alliance leaders in the district expressing dismay at the situation said they are likely to lose the seat if immediate steps are not taken for reconciliation and one of the candidates withdraw from the race.
BNP had won both the seats of Meherpur district in the last parliamentary election.
