Jamuna fertiliser stops production
Sunday, 4 May 2014
A technical glitch has interrupted production at Jamuna Fertiliser Company in Jamalpur district. The factory’s Managing Director Ikhlas Uddin said urea production at the factory had been suspended since Saturday evening. He said it would take two or three days for the factory to resume operations. The factory’s ammonia plant caught fire due to a mechanical fault, Ikhlas said. Factory’s employees and staff put out the flames after half an hour of hectic efforts, he said. The plant is being repaired. The factory produces 1,700 metric tonnes of urea daily, according to a news agency.
