Jan 5 polls: EC discloses return of 108 candidates\\\' expenses
Thursday, 24 April 2014
In the wake of criticism by the media, the Election Commission (EC) has finally started disclosing the return of polls expenses submitted by candidates who took part in the January 5 national polls. The commission has published the return of polls expenditures of 108 candidates out of 543 on its website. The return of polls expenses of other candidates will be disclosed in phases, EC sources said. As the commission did not receive the return of all candidates’ expenses, it sent letters to the Returning Officers of the January 5 general elections last week to inform it by April 30 about names of defaulted candidates and whether cases were filed against defaulters, according to a news agency.
