Janata Bank net profit crosses Tk 3.0b-mark

The audited financial statements of Janata Bank Limited for the year 2008 was approved in its 83rd board meeting held in the city recently.
Chairman of the bank Suhel A Choudhury presided over the meeting, says a press release.
Directors M Zarzeul Islam, Azizur Rahman, Enamul Haq Choudhury, Chowdhury, Abdul Quayum, CEO-cum-Managing Director SM Aminur Rahman, DMD Jahangir Miah and Zillur Rahman, Senior Consultant (Accounts and Finance) Md Belal Hussain and DGM (Accounts) Neazuddin were present at the meeting.
Chairman Suhel Ahmed Choudhury, directors Chowdhury Abdul Quayum, and Dr Jamaluddin Ahmed signed the Audited Accounts on behalf of the board of directors. On the other hand, the managing director, senior consultant (accounts and finance) and DGM (accounts) signed on behalf of the bank executives.
The board was informed that the audited accounts shows the operating profit Tk 7.0 billion, net profit Tk 3.19 billion, provision Tk 10.05 billion, capital adequacy Tk 10.12 billion and equity Tk 9.06 billion.
Besides, a brief discussion was also held in operating activities of the bank. The meeting emphasised increase of the paid-up capital of the bank for expansion of business activities.
In this context, it was decided to issue bonus share of Tk 1.156 billion out of retained earnings of Tk 2.29 billion. The board expressed its satisfaction over the business achievement during the year 2008 and thanked the management and employees of the bank.
