Janata Bank posts record net profit in 2021

By overcoming all challenges, the state-owned Janata Bank Ltd. has posted a net profit of over Tk 3.0 billion in 2021, as all financial indicators of the bank are on the upward trend.
It is also the highest-ever net profit of the bank since its inception, says a press release.
Banking sector analysts said if the uptrend in the key indicators continues, the bank would be able to regain its previous glory.
The bank's operating profit also crossed Tk 10 billion-mark in 2021 for the first time since 2012, according to the audited financial statement of the bank.
Also, the number of loss-making branches of the bank dropped to 39 from 51.
The bank also saw a big jump in its earnings per share (EPS) in 2021. Its EPS stood at Tk 12.98 for the year ended on December 31, 2021, up from Tk 0.62 in 2020.
The bank has also shown remarkable improvement in reducing classified loans as it has been able to bring down its classified loans to Tk 123 billion in 2021 from Tk 137 billion a year earlier.
The bank's total deposits also rose to Tk 1020 billion.
