Janata Bank to sponsor foreign coach for hockey

State-owned Janata Bank Limited Sunday signed a contract with Bangladesh Hockey Federation to sponsor foreign coach for the national hockey team for one year, reports UNB.
Janata Bank acting Managing Director Omar Faruk and deputy Managing Director Iftekharuzzaman signed the deal on behalf of the bank while chief of Bangladesh Air Force and President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation Air Marshall M Enamul Bari signed for the Hockey Federation at a simple ceremony at the Dutch-Bangla Bank auditorium of BOA in the city.
This is the 2nd successive time that Janata Bank came forward to support Bangladesh Hockey Federation to appoint a foreign coach.  But, this time, the bank will be paying Tk 5.0 million although they provided Tk 9.0 million last year.
After signing the deal, the acting Managing Director of Janata Bank handed over a cheque for Tk 5.0 million to the president of Bangladesh Hockey Federation.
Addressing the function, Hockey Federation president Air Marshall M Enamul Bari assured proper utilisation of the money.
He said: "In July last year, we appointed a Pakistani coach (Naveed Alam) with the bank's support and Bangladesh's world ranking has since moved up to 30th from previous 36th position."
The current tenure of the Pakistani coach will expire after the next month's Asian Games to be held in the South Korean city of Inchean.
