Janata official stresses depositors\\\' protection

CHITTAGONG, Apr 5: A day-long workshop on understanding core risk in banking was held yesterday at the Janata Bank divisional office at Agrabad in the city.
 The workshop, presided over by general manager of Chittagong Abu Naser Chowdhury was organised by the bank's head office. Principal of Janata Bank Training Institute, Dhaka Saida Sultana was chief guest at the workshop.
She said that the workshop has been arranged to make the bankers more aware of the risks prevailing in the sector, its existing regulations.
She emphasised on the existing six core risks and said the banking system would be risk-free through implementation of those rules.
Mr Chowdhury said there are some basic rules in operating the banking system besides internal control and operational laws, which should be strictly followed by the officials and employees.
He called upon the officials to ensure safety of the money deposited by customers and emphasised on selecting good customers for distribution of bank loan to avoid risks of loan default and bad debt.
He laid emphasis on anti-money laundering and highlighted on how to resist it.
