A Youth Training Centre was formally inaugurated at Ramu Upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday with an aim to provide need-based training facilities targeting youth communities in the south-eastern region to improve their status through creating employment. This project was implemented by the NGO-Young Power in Social Action (YPSA), with the support of the government of Japan through its Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP). YPSA received US $74,705 from Japan govt through GGHSP in 2012 to construct a 2-storied training complex for youth development in Cox’s Bazar. Japan funded this project to create a vibrant youth community which can contribute to the socio-economic development of the nation. The GGHSP began its operation in Bangladesh in 1989. A total of 183 projects have been funded through GGHSP amounting to approximately US $14 million to date in Bangladesh, according to UNB.
