Monday, 12 May 2014

Japan has provided 12 more eco-friendly waste collection vehicles to Bangladesh. Ambassador Shiro Sadoshima and JICA chief Mikio Hataeda handed over those vehicles on Monday at Sayedabad. With these new vehicles, the number of Japanese waste collection cars rose to 112. Tk 930 million grant for those vehicles was provided under a Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project for strengthening solid waste management in Dhaka City. JICA says the waste collection capacity has been doubled using this vehicle in Dhaka where people litter waste just anywhere. The vehicles have been provided as part of Japan’s efforts to make cities environment friendly, it says, according to a news agency.
