Japanese, Chinese varsitiesto give IT help to DU

Three universities- two of Japan and another one of China will extend financial assistance to Dhaka University (DU) in installing video meeting system to hold remote lecture, seminar, symposium and as well as interview students intending to study in Japan.
A four-member delegation of Gifu University and Shizuoka University of Japan and Beijing Jiaotong University, China gave the assurance while calling on DU Vice-Chancellor SMA Faiz at the latter's office Saturday.
"The delegation apprised me of its package programme and said that the system will be launched between Gifu University and DU next year", Faiz told reporters.
The VC said the team from Japanese and Chinese varsities had come to DU to check out the infrastructure of internet communication and other facilities to be required to start the video meeting system at DU.
Tohru Suzuki of Gifu University led the four-member team of Japanese and Chinese universities. Other three members are Yasutaka Tahara of Shizuoka University, Haruki Inoue of Beijing Jiaotong University and Ichiro Kato of Gifu University. DU Institute of Information Technology (IIT) Director Md Zulfiker Hafiz was also present on the occasion.
