Japanese envoy honours physician

Japanese Ambassador Shiro Sadoshima presented certificate of commendation to Dr Mohammad Ekhlasur Rahman, director of Yamagata Dhaka Friendship Hospital, for his outstanding contribution towards increasing friendship and mutual understanding between Japan and Bangladesh.
A Japanese Embassy press release on Thursday said the ambassador's commendation is bestowed on those individuals or groups, who have made outstanding contribution towards raising friendship and mutual understanding between Japan and another country.
Dr Rahman received PhD in Orthopedic Surgery from Yamagata University in Japan in 1996 under the Japanese government-provided Monbukagakusho scholarship.  
He has been very active in introducing new techniques and equipments from Japan, which has contributed to improving medical services in Dhaka. Influenced by Japanese ethics, Dr. Rahman's motto is - 'to put people's lives first before one's own benefit', the press release said.
Ambassador Sadoshima expressed his sincere appreciation to Dr Rahman for his devotion towards medical profession. Among the Japanese people in Bangladesh, Dr. Rahman is known for his compassion for patients in need of emergency care, it also said.
Furthermore, the Japanese ambassador acknowledged Dr Rahman's close relationship with a wide range of leading experts in various medical fields, which makes it possible for him to  provide most suitable treatment for Japanese patients when in need, the release added.
