Japanese minister calls on DU VC

Japan’s Senior Vice Minister for Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Yoshitaka Sakurada has called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique at the latter’s office at the university campus. Senior Deputy Director-General of Science and Technology Policy Bureau of Japan Dr Kishimoto Yasuo, Unit Chief Mao Iwai, Secretary to the Senior Vice-Minister Takashi Nakagawa and 1st Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka Ryoji Tsuge were present. During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interests specially possibilities of strengthening bilateral and friendly relationship between Bangladesh and Japan in the fields of higher education and research. They also stressed the need for strengthening ongoing joint collaborative academic and research programmes on various issues including information and communication technology which are being conducted by the DU and the higher educational institutions in Japan, according to a news agency.
