Jasim Pollimela ends in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, Feb 12 (BSS): Month-long 'Jasim Pollimela' concluded on Saturday evening on the premises of poet Jasimuddin's ancestral home at Gobindapur in the suburb of Faridpur town.
Faridpur Jasim Foundation and District Administration organised the fair jointly marking the 114th birth anniversary of Jasimuddin.
Faridpur Zilla Parishad Chairman Md Lokman Hossain Mridha attended the concluding ceremony as the chief guest while Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rev) Dr Kamruzzaman Selim was in the chair.
Additional Police Super Md. Jamal Pasha son of the late poet Dr. Zamal Anowar were present on the occasion as the special guests.
Lokman Hossain laid emphasis on the need for preserving our traditional cultural heritage for our national progress and identity. He said the village fair is a praiseworthy venture of the organisers to preserve our heritage as well as a source of enjoyment for the rural people.
About 200 display and selling outlets were set up in the fair. Different varieties of handicrafts were available besides various sources of amusements and recreations including circus.
