Jatrabari police recover hanging body of constable

Police recovered the body of a constable hanging from a rope tied to the ventilator of a toilet at Jatrabari Police Outpost in the capital on Wednesday.
The deceased, Shafikul Islam (42) - hailing from Chandpur, might have committed suicide.
Jatrabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Raju said the toilet was not in regular use. A cleaner found the body while cleaning the facility in the morning.
Police are investigating the incident, and initially assuming it to be a case of suicide.
According to the OC, the constable sent a message to his elder daughter last night saying, "I could not do anything for you. Please forgive me."
