JB disburses interest-free loans to landless farmers

One of the state owned commercial banks in Bangladesh Janata Bank Limited (JB) disbursed interest-free loans on easy condition to the landless rural farmers for poverty alleviation. Janata Bank Limited Chairman Dr Abul Barakat inaugurated the loan disbursing programme among the aila and sidr victim farmers in Gouronodi Upazila in Barisal recently, according to a press release.
'The bank has taken initiative for salvation of the poor farmers from the circle of high interest rate of the money-lender and creditors'. Said, Abul Barakat.
JB Deputy Managing Director Dr Md Zillur Rahman presided over the function meeting while Barisal City Mayor Shawkat Hossain Heron, Talukdar Muhammad Yunus were present on the occasion.
Among others, the bank directors Balaram Poddar, Nazibur Rahman, AKM Shahjahan Kamal spoke at the function.
