A large number of leaders and workers of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) were injured in attacks by police and ruling party activists in Shariatpur, Gopalganj and Meherpur Sunday, reports UNB.
They came under the attacks while they were observing the 33rd founding anniversary of their organization, said a press release of BNP.
Nazmul Islam Ruhel, joint secretary of Bishwanath Upazila BNP in Sylhet, and Jahed Ahmed, JCD joint convener of Osmaninagar thana of Sylhet, were also arrested, said the release.
In a statement, BNP acting secretary general condemned the actions of police and ruling party activists, saying that vigorous movement would be launched with country's freedom-loving people to foil all conspiracies of Awami League and its dream to cling to power for ever.
The opposition leader demanded exemplary punishment of the attackers and release of all arrested leaders and workers.
