JCD-BCL clash leaves eight JCD men hurt

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Oct 10: At least eight activists of Jatiytabadi Chhatra Dol (JCD) Rajshahi University (RU) unit were injured in a clash with Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists on the university campus Sunday.
According to the sources, tension escalated at about 11:30am when a group of BCL activists led by Ranju and Habib carrying tree branches attacked a procession carried out by the JCD RU unit activists on the campus marking the death anniversary of Naziruddin Jihad.
The injured were identified as JCD RU unit convener Arafat Reza Ashik, Central Vice President Abu Bakar Siddique, Salauddin Rana, Ekramul Hoque Hira, Saiful Islam, Kamrul Hasan, Imtiaz Ahmed and Abdur Rajjak.
The injured were admitted to the RU Medical Centre for primary treatment.
RU Proctor CM Zakaria said additional police have been deployed on the campus to avoid any untoward incident.
A tense situation was prevailing on the campus.
