JCD cadre held for assaulting policemen

NARAYANGANJ, Apr 07 (UNB): Police today arrested a JCD leader on charge of assaulting police and damaging property during the day-long hartal in the town recently. The arrested person was identified as Rafiuddin Ahmed Riad (30), vice-president of Narayanganj town unit BNP and president of Ward No 7 Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD). Sadar Model Thana police said Riad was held in the afternoon as an accused in police assault case. He rallied madrasah students, damaged private/public property, attacked on-duty policemen and created chaos during hartal, called by Islami Oikya Jote (IOJ) in protest against the government's women development policy.
