The BNP's student front has dared the ruling Awami League's student wing to stop Khaleda Zia's Gazipur rally. Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Sunday said it would not allow Khaleda Zia to hold the Dec 27 rally unless her son Tarique Rahman apologised. Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) reacted to BCL's threat at a press conference on Monday. JCD General Secretary Akramul Hasan said the BCL announcement had "stunned" the students. "Such statements are funny," he said adding that the BNP’s student front would make all arrangements for the Gazipur rally. JCD leader Hasan said, "The Chhatra League will have to learn from history how dangerous the consequences of its announcement to thwart rallies could be," according to a news agency.
