JCD enforces daylong hartal in Rajshahi

A daylong hartal, enforced by city and Rajshahi University units of Jatiyatabadi Chchatra Dal (JCD) to press home their demands, including the immediate arrest of the ‘real’ killers of RU teacher AKM Shafiul Islam, is passing peacefully in the district on Monday. City and RU units of JCD jointly announced the shutdown from a protest rally held at Bhubanmor Park in Rajshahi city on Friday afternoon. Their other demands include taking action against the question paper leak in primary school certificate examinations and holding elections of all the central students unions in all the universities. Hartal supporters brought out a procession in the city in the morning. Most of the motorised vehicles remained off the roads and private businesses and other establishments, including supermarkets and shops, remained closed. No long-route buses left the divisional city, according to a news agency.
