Sunday, 28 September 2014

A Dhaka court placed Sunday Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) general secretary Habibur Rashid Habib on a three-day police remand in connection with a vehicle-torching case.
Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor passed the order after hearing both the remand and bail petitions, according to a news agency.
On Saturday, sub-inspector Azim Uddin of Shahbagh Police Station, also the investigation officer of the case, produced the JCD leader before the court, seeking a 10-day remand in the case. On the other hand, his counsel Advocate Sanaullah Miah filed a bail petition Sunday.
After hearing, the court rejected the bail petition and allowed police to interrogate Habib in their custody for three days.
Immigration police at Shahjalal International Airport in the city arrested Habib moments before his departure for abroad in the early hours Saturday.
