JCD, ICS clash leaves 10 injured

SYLHET, Aug 10 (UNB): Ten students of the Sylhet Polytechnic Institute were injured during a clash between the activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), student wing of BNP, and Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS), student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, here Thursday night.
Institution sources said the activists of both the groups had an altercation at the dining room of Surma Hall at about 9pm over a trifling matter. Following the altercation, the ICS activists drove the JCD activists away from the dining hall.
After an hour, the ICS activists and their outside supporters ganged up and attacked the JCD activists that triggered a clash, leaving 10 members of both the groups injured.
The outsiders also ransacked the hall superintendent's room and some other rooms of the students.
