JCD leader gunned down

NARSINGDI, Mar 15 (UNB): General secretary of Narsingdi Government College student union and president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) unit of the college was gunned down by some miscreants on the college campus Tuesday morning. The JCD leader, Billal Hossain alias Roni Mollah (28), son of Mostafa Mia, was a resident of Brahmondi area in the town. Campus sources said a group of armed miscreants numbering about 10 attacked Roni when he along with his men were talking in the Chhatra Sangsad office room on the campus and opened fire on them, leaving Roni and another student, Mamun Mridha critically injured at around 11 am. They were rushed to sadar hospital where duty doctor pronounced Roni dead. Mamun was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The reason behind the killing could not be known immediately.
