JCD leader held in Sylhet

Police on Saturday arrested a local leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) at Hazipara in Sylhet city for his suspected involvement in Thursday’s clash between two rival factions of the BNP’s student wing. The arrestee is Belal Ahmed, president of No 7 Ward unit of JCD. Shaheen Ahmed, sub-inspector of Kotwali Police Station, said they conducted a raid at Subidbazar and arrested Belal around 1:30am. He was arrested in connection with a case filed over Thursday’s clash between two rival groups of JCD groups at Mirboxtula, the police officer added, according to UNB.
