JCD’s indefinite strike at DU from today

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of BNP, called on Saturday an indefinite strike at Dhaka University (DU) from today (Sunday) demanding the resignation of Vice Chancellor (VC) AAMS Arefin Siddique and co-existence of the activists of all student organisations on the campus, reports UNB.
JCD central office secretary M Abdus Sattar Patwary said that they will enforce the indefinite strike from today to press home their demands. "We will continue our strike until the demands are met,'' he added.
Another report adds: An indefinite strike, enforced by the Rajshahi University (RU) unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) on the campus protesting the arrest of its general secretary Kamrul Hasan, passed peacefully Saturday.
JCD called the strike on the campus on Friday protesting the arrest of Kamrul Hasan, JCD unit president Imtiaz Ahmed said over phone.
Imtiaz said members of the Detective Branch (DB) of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police picked up Kamrul Hasan from his residence in Karaitala area of the city around 6.00pm on Thursday.
