Jeddah-bound flight delayed due to foggy weather for 16 hrs

CHITTAGONG, Feb 1: Over 300 passengers of a Jeddah-bound Biman flight finally left Chittagong Airport this afternoon after being detained for more than 16 hours.
The flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines left Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport at around 2.30 pm on Saturday with 307 passengers. The flight was scheduled to take off for Saudi Arabia from Chittagong at 10.45 pm Friday.
Airport immigration officials said, the flight with 419 passengers on board was supposed to land Chittagong Airport Friday night from Dhaka Airport but it could not reach Dhaka at 9.00 pm as scheduled because of dense fog.
As the Dhaka-bound flight could not land at Dhaka Shahjalal International Airport in dense fog it landed at Chittagong airport at around 3.30 am in the early hours of Saturday and left Chittagong at around 10.00 am on the day for Dhaka to return to Chittagong.
The Jeddah-bound flight with 307 passengers had been waiting overnight on Friday and suffered a lot in the airport due to foggy weather which disrupted the whole schedule after arriving in the Bangladesh air from the Middle East.
