Jessore football team lift Nuru Mia Gold Cup

FARIDPUR, Oct 4 (BSS): Jessore District Football Team became champion of the 4th Khondoker Nuru Mia Gold Cup Football Tournament beating the reigning champion Faridpur Team by a solitary first half goal in the final match here Friday.
Jessore's forward player Rabbi scored the winning goal in the match held at the local Sheikh Jamal Stadium.
From the very beginning, Jessore with fine team work had been creating pressure on their opponent Faridpur starred with many Dhaka players.
Finally in the 21st minute of the first half, Rabbi made the solitary goal with a beautiful right footer shot.
Despite enjoying the home ground support of nearly 35,000 fans and a good number of chances, Faridpur could not overcome. They failed convert any of the chances into goals.
Jessore custodian Mitul was adjudged man of the final.
At the end of the match, Overseas Employment and Expatriates Welfare Minister Engineer Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain distributed trophies and cash awards among the winner and runner up teams.
The champion team got a gold trophy and a cash award of Taka five lakh while the runner up a silver trophy and cash money of Taka two lakh.
The tournament was introduced in 2009 at the personal initiatives of Minister Engineer Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain after the name of his late father Khondoker Nurul Hossain alias Nuru Mia.
