A leader of Jessore unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), student wing of BNP, was reportedly abducted from Topkhana Road area of the capital Wednesday, reports UNB.
The victim was identified as Foysal Khan, vice-president of the JCD district unit.
Foysal's brother-in-law Shaheen alleged that some 6/7 people identifying themselves to be members of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police pushed the JCD leader into a white microbus in front of the National Press Club in the afternoon while he along with Kamruzzaman Dablu, publicity secretary of Jessore Awami League (AL) unit, was going to Baitul Mokarram and drove away towards an unspecified direction.
"I called him over phone several times but it was found switched off and also looked for him in every possible place; yet his whereabouts could not be confirmed," added Shaheen.
Emdadul Haque Sheikh, officer-in-charge (OC) of Jessore Kotwali Police Station, said nobody lodged any complaint regarding the incident.
"However, we are looking into the matter," added the OC.
