Jessore Jubo League leader held for killing AL leader

Police arrested two people, including alleged killer of a local Awami League (AL) leader, from Sheikhhati in Upashohor of Jessore town on Thursday night. The arrested are Manjur Hossain, an activist of local unit Jubo League, and his associate Kazi Alam. Being informed, a police team raided a brick kiln in Sheikhhati and arrested Manjur along with a foreign-made pistol around 11:00pm. After interrogating him, police along with Manjur conducted another raid on the house of Kazi Alam at night and arrested him. On November 26, Mahfuzur Rahman Khokan, 38, office secretary of the Fatepur union Ward-1 unit of AL, and son of Moslem Uddin of Sultanpur village in Sadar Upazila was shot to death by some miscreants at Sheikhhati, according to a news agency.
