JFTC essay competiton announced
Sunday, 22 July 2007
JFTC (Japan Foreign Trade Council, Inc.) is contributing to the prosperity of the Japanese economy and the development of international society through the promotion of trade.
JFTC is sponsoring JFTC Essay Competition 2007 to encourage students, younger researchers and business people to express their opinions on matters of national and international importance.
One grand prize of 1 million yen and three second prizes of 200,000 yen will be awarded to the best four submissions, as selected by the distinguished judges. In addition, the grand prize winner will be provided with an air-ticket to Tokyo (Japan) in order to attend the award ceremony on January 9, 2008.
The subject of the essay is "Global Capitalism and Japanese Companies".
Capital is becoming more liquid worldwide with the rise in oil money accompanying the skyrocketing of raw-material and energy prices, the increase in capital in Asian and other emerging economies, and heightened capital movement due to the appreciation of such currencies as the U.S. dollar and the euro. While this kind of global money supports the Japanese economy, this situation has brought into question how Japanese companies should be managed, including how they can best develop stakeholder relations and raise capital efficiency, with industry and corporate reorganization and the increase in the number of foreign investors. How should Japanese companies respond to the reality of this kind of global capitalism?
