Jhenaidah, Bagerhat road crashes kill two

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Jhenaidah and Bagerhat road accidents on Sunday, reports UNB.
In Jhenaidah, a woman was killed and two others were injured in a collision between a passenger bus and an autorickshaw in Harinakundu upazila of Jhenaidah district on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sohagi Khatun, 46, wife of Ummad Ali from Shakharidah village under the same upazila.
Shahidul Islam Hawladar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Harinakundu Police Station said that the accident occurred around 8am when the Dhaka-bound bus rammed into the autorickshaw from the opposite direction in Kapashhatia village, leaving the woman dead on the spot and the duo injured.
The injured were sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, he said, adding that the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
He, however, could not ascertain the identities of the injured immediately.
In Bagerhat, an 11-year-old boy was killed when a bus ran over him on Khulna-Mongla highway in Katakhali area of Fakirhat upazila in Bagerhat district on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Samirul Islam, son of Saiful Islam of Cumilla district.
Samirul along with his parents used to live in Katakhali and worked at a welding workshop.
The accident occurred in the morning when the Dhaka-bound 'Setu Paribahan' hit Samirul while crossing the road, leaving him injured, said Zafor Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Katakhali highway police station.
Later, he was taken to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead.
Police seized the bus but could not arrest anyone as the drive managed to flee the scene.
