JICA-sponsored primary teachers training on science , mathematics

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has extended its technical cooperation within the framework of PEDP-II (Primary Education Development Programme II), concretely under the component two to cooperate in the field of teachers' training, especially in mathematics and science teaching in primary level. The objective of the programme is to improve the quality of teaching on science and mathematics (S&M) in real setting in the target areas like: National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE), Primary Teachers Training Institutes (PTI), URC and UEO's and the project pilot school, said a press release.
The main contents of the project are: To improve the teaching ability of both teacher trainers and school teachers in the primary school on science and mathematics (S&M) in the target areas, to conduct appropriate S&M training, to recommend appropriate curriculum and valid assessment methods for S&M training, to strengthen the vertical relationship between NAPE, PTI, URC and schools and to conduct technical cooperation on development of teaching packages.
The "Launching Ceremony on Teaching Package for Development and Training" was held Saturday morning in Mymensingh NAPE. The ceremony was chaired by Abdul Wahid, director, NAPE. M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, secretary-in-charge, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, attended the programme as the chief guest while Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Masayuki Inoue, Brajesh P Panth, task manager, PEDP II, BRM, ADB and Nobuko Suzuki Kayashima, resident representative, JICA Bangladesh were present as special guests in the ceremony. Thirty superintendents of different PTIs participated in the ceremony.
