JICA to boost institutional capacity of CWASA

CHATTOGRAM, July 11: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is going to start a technical assistance project with its own grant to increase the institutional capacity of the Chattogram WASA.
To this end, a meeting was held in the conference room of the CWASA office at Dampara on Tuesday.
According to CWASA officials, JICA will provide technical support for the development of five sectors of Chattogram WASA through the four-year project.
The JICA experts will work to strengthen CWASA's business and financial management through technical assistance.
The expert team will provide assistance in increasing technical efficiency in the operation and maintenance of water-treatment plants, increasing capacity to reduce losses and bringing it to a rational level and promoting communication between customers and CWASA.
The project has been undertaken to boost the quality of services delivered by the water and sewerage watchdog.
"JICA is implementing several projects with us. Now, it's going to start a technical-assistance project with its own grant to increase CWASA's institutional capacity," said CWASA managing director AKM Fazlullah.
"JICA representatives met us to start the project to be jointly implemented by Tokyo Engineering Consultants International, Nippon Koei and Ernest Yang."
