Jihad died from drowning

With the completion of the autopsy on Jihad’s body on Sunday morning, the autopsy conductors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) came up with the observation that the four-year-old boy died from drowning. The autopsy was completed by a three-member team of the Forensic Department of DMCH, led by its chair Prof Dr Habibuzzaman, around 9:45am on Sunday and the body of Jihad was handed over to the boy’s maternal uncle Monir Hossain at 10:30am. Talking to reporters, Prof Habibuzzaman said, ‘The child died due to drowning in the water. Though, there were marks of a minor injury in the back of the head.’ Jihad’s uncle Monir Hossain said that Jihad’s body is being taken to his ancestral home in Goshairhat Upazila in Shariatpur district. Nearly 23 hours after Jihad slipped into a deep pipe of an abandoned railway pump in Shahjahanpur Railway Colony, local people retrieved his body after their hectic efforts on Saturday afternoon, according to a news agency.
