JL leader hacked to death in Bogra

BOGRA, Jul 25 (UNB): A local leader of Jubo League was hacked to death at Chaklokmapara in the district town Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Golam Hafiz Likhon, 40, vice-president of Jubo League town unit.
Police and witnesses said when Likhon and his bother-in-law Ataur Rahman Milu, a local Swechhasebok League leader, tried to collect toll from the people of their area on Thursday evening local people got furious and confined them to a house.
The agitated people also set fire to their motorbike. They chopped Milu, leaving him injured but Likhon managed to escape. Milu was admitted to a hospital.
Later, over 200 people attacked Likhon's house around 8:30 pm. They vandalised the house and set fire to it.
On information, police rushed to spot and recovered Likhon's chopped body from near Koratoa river. The body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.
Shahjahanpur thana officer-in-charge Abdul Mannan confirmed the incident.
