JL leader shot in Dhaka\\\'s Wari dies at Square Hospital

A Jubo League (JL) leader, shot and injured who sustained bullet injuries in an attack by assailants in Dhaka’s Wari on Tuesday night, died at Square Hospital in Panthapath on Wednesday. The dead is Abdul Mannan, 30, general secretary of the Ward-31 unit of Jubo League, the youth wing of Awami League. Sources said two armed miscreants on a motorbike opened fire on Mannan in front of his residence in Nakshi Rupayon under Wari Police Station around 10:30pm on Tuesday while he was getting down from a rickshaw. With bullet wounds in the head and chest, he was rescued by locals and, first, whisked off to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. But he was shifted to Square Hospital at about 11:30pm as his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to his injures at Square Hospital around 7:00am on Wednesday. Tapan Kumar, officer-in-charge of Wari Police Station, confirmed the death of Mannan, according to UNB.
