JMB leader jailed for 34 years in two cases in Gazipur

GAZIPUR, Sept 1 (UNB) A court here today (Monday) convicted a leader of the banned Islamic outfit Jamatul Mujahidin Bangladesh (JMB) of subversive acts and awarded him 34 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) in two cases.brAbdullah Al Suhail, JMB's regional commander, was jailed for 20 years in an arms case.brHe was also awarded 14 years RI for possessing explosives and fined to pay Tk 20,000 or serve six months more in prison.brAccording to prosecution, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested Abdullah from Ashulia bus stand in Dhaka on January 30, 2006 and recovered three LGs and some explosives from his possession. Two cases were filed.
