Jama'atul Mujahedin Bangladesh (JMB) leader Rakib Hasan, alias Hafez Mahmud Russel, shot dead in a shootout on Monday, was buried at his family graveyard at Bangshi Bailtail under Melandaha upazila in Tangail on Tuesday. Police recaptured Rakib on Sunday five hours after he was snatched away by miscreants from a prison van in Mirzapur upazila where a policeman was also killed. The law enforces conducted a drive along with Rakib to recover arms in Beltail Ceramic area around 4:00am. Sensing presence of the law enforcers suspected JMB activists opened fire on police, forcing them to retaliate, triggering a shootout. Rakib was killed in the line of fire and three cops were injured. Mirzapur police station sources said Rakib’s body was sent to Kumudini hospital for autopsy on Monday morning. He was buried at his ancestral village home today, according to a news agency.
