JMB man jailed for Aug 17 serial blast 19 held in M’singh

A Dhaka court sentenced Tuesday an operative of the banned outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) over a case of the serial bomb blast, reports BSS.
Special Tribunal-10 Judge Masud Parvez, passed the verdict in the presence of convict Rezaul Karim Reza in the case of exploding bombs in front of Hotel Sheraton in the capital on August 17, 2005.
The court also fined Reza Tk 5,000, in case of default three more months in jail.
Another Mymensingh, report adds: Nineteen activists of banned Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were produced before two courts in Mymensingh Tuesday.
They are accused in two cases filed with Trishal and Bhaluka thanas of the district.
Of the two cases, one is in connection with the snatching of three militants, ambushing a police van and killing a constable in Trishal in February this year and another is of arms recovery from Bhaluka.
The 19 JMB activists from Mymensingh and Gazipur jails were produced before the Cognisance Court No-3 and Cognisance Court No-4 at about 12.30 pm that sent them to jail, court sources said.
