FE Report | Monday, 24 November 2014

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested early Sunday four members of the banned outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), including its women wing chief, from the capital's Sadarghat area.
The women wing chief was identified as Fatema Begum, wife of Kolkata Burdwan blast prime accused Sajid, now in Kolkata prison, Joint Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Monirul Islam told reporters at a press briefing at noon.
He said she was nabbed along with three of her associates -- Abdullah Kazi, Ishrat Ali Sheikh and Sawkat Sarder -- from Dhaka's Sadarghat along with explosives, bomb-making materials and jihadi books.
Citing preliminary interrogation, the DMP Joint Commissioner said JMB trained militants in India as Fatema trained at least 25 women, including five Bangladeshis, in Shimulia area of Kolkata.
"Fatema was a training coordinator of JMB and she was with her husband Sajid, the political chief of the militant group, during Burdwan blast," he said, adding that the arrestees will be produced before a court soon with a remand payer.
Fatema is said to have been significantly mentioned by India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) during their meeting in Dhaka on the issue of militancy last week, another official said.
He said they and Lawful Interception Cell (LIC) of Police Headquarters jointly conducted the drive following intelligence report that some of the militants linked to the Burdwan blast returned to Bangladesh recently to avoid arrest in India.
