The Jagannath University Journalists Association president and five of his colleagues have been injured in attacks allegedly by several other newsmen and outsiders. The injured include bdnews24.com’s JnU correspondent Mobarak Hossain, Alokito Bangladesh’s Moniruzzaman Toofan, Sokaler Khabar’s Tanvir Raihan, Daily Bartoman’s Subrata Mandol, Arthaniti Protidin’s ‘Raj’ and Prime Khobor’s ‘Shahin’. They were admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital on Sunday night. Hospital’s neurosurgery physician Dr Gazi Sajidur Rahman said Mobarak, Toofan, Raj and Subrata required stitches in their heads. The injured claimed that they were attacked for refusing to make two ‘fake journalists’ the association member. Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Mizanur Rahman said actions would be taken on investigations if anyone lodged written complaints, according to bdnews24.com.
