JOCVs team arrives in city

A-10 member team of Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCVs) has arrived in Dhaka Tuesday on a two-year assignment, said a JICA press release.

Among them, Yumi Osawa, Kei Shiga, Miki Kashiwagi and Kenji Tsuji would work on Rural Community Development in BRDB, Tangail and BRDB Meherpur. Mayuko Takahashi will work on Environmental Education in Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) and Yuya Ishitobi, Ayako Hirashima, Hisashi Shibata and Ryoji Miyashita will work as teacher at Primary School Education in PTI, Kushtia, Mymensingh, Tangail and Barisal.

Yuko Miyamoto will be assigned at Primary School Education in URC, Cox's Bazaar.

Since 1973, about 1,000 numbers of JOCV/SV volunteers have been dispatched in various fields like health, education, agriculture, engineering, sports, and rural development for socio-economic development of Bangladesh.

At present, 44 volunteers are working in different organisations throughout Bangladesh.

Recently, they met with Nobuko Suzuki Kayashima, JICA Resident Representative and described their target activities.
