Jordan wants to recruit domestic helps from Bangladesh. A report in Jordan Times, a news daily published from Amman, said Jordan wants to recruit these domestic workers through government recruiting agencies in Bangladesh to ensure domestic workers' rights and wants to finish the procedure within the next few weeks.
Quoting Labour Secretary General of Jordan Khleif Khawaldeh, Jordan Times reported that the government decided to allow recruitment of domestic helps from Bangladesh and Ethiopia.
Mr Khawaldeh added the government seeks to facilitate the recruitment of domestic helps, especially in light of limitations in recruitment from the Philippines and Indonesia, both of which have banned sending helps to Jordan for more than two years.
"Opening of new markets will give citizens seeking to recruit a help an array of options and boost competitiveness among recruitment agencies in giving better services to their clients," Khawaldeh said.
Labour secretary of the government of Bangladesh Zafar Ahmed Khan said they have not yet received any formal request from Jordanian authority for sending domestic workers from Bangladesh.
"We have heard a news like this. We are yet to receive any formal proposal from them. Many individual recruiting agencies are already sending domestic workers to Jordan," the secretary told the FE Thursday.
