Journalist, his associate surrender before court

BAGERHAT, Jan 2 (UNB): A local journalist along with his associate surrendered before a court here Sunday following a case filed against them for demanding extortion and trying to thwart government's relief operation.
Clerk of local Relief Office Hafizur Rahman filed the case against SM Sobur Rana (35), Rampal correspondent of the daily Lok Samaj published from Jessore, Ibrahim and Islam with Rampal thana on November 29.
In his complaint, the plaintiff said that Sobur Rana and his two associates entered his office on November 29 and demanded toll from them. Being refused, he also threatened to foil the relief operation, he added.
