Journalist hit and killed by train

A journalist was hit and killed by an inter-city train at Khilkhet in the city on Saturday evening. The deceased was identified as Zahirul Islam Feroz, 35, a reporter of The Daily Palli Bangla published from Barisal city. He was the son of Ratan Dhali of Terochar village in Muladi upazila of Barisal district. Quoting locals, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sirajul Islam of Kamlapur Government Railway Police (GRP) Station said a Tongi-bound train – “Jamuna/Agnibina Express” – from the railway station hit Feroz from behind while he was walking on the rail tracks talking over mobile phone at Joar Sahara, leaving him dead on the spot. Feroz came to Dhaka to meet an ailing relative, family sources said. On information, police recovered the body. Later the body of the journo was handed it over to his family members, according to a news agency.
